The storm chaser app that runs in your browser
Everything you need on chase day, on the phone already in your hand: the newest radar scans, rotation and debris detection, storm motion and your position — with nothing to install.
Built for chase day
- Chase mode — the map follows your GPS with street detail, draws your trail, keeps the screen awake and tells you your distance and bearing to the storm you're tracking.
- Super-res close-up radar — 0.25 km reflectivity, base velocity, storm-relative velocity, an azimuthal-shear rotation view and correlation coefficient for every NEXRAD radar.
- Automatic rotation detection — each new scan is checked for couplets across several tilts, with strength (Vrot), depth, trend, track, ETA and debris signatures, plus NOAA ProbTor.
- Storm motion and SRV — measured automatically, or set your own.
- Radar nowcast — a 1-hour forecast of where rain and storms will move, extended to 24 hours with the HRRR model.
- Soundings — Skew-T profiles from balloons and the HRRR, with CAPE and shear explained.
- Usernames — pick a chaser name for your TALON account.
Safety first
Storm chasing is dangerous. Radar data arrives minutes after the scan, and no app replaces situational awareness, a safe route and NWS warnings. Never chase into rain-wrapped areas you can't see.
